It is not that I have any comparison references... But this does the job just perfectly. I measured every single input/ouptuts, played with all the eq/compressor knobs... Everything is working perfectly. The preamps are even more flat that the zoom R8 ones in the bass area mostly.
Of course this is a complicated piece of device and this asks to know what you are playing with:
-That is very nice to have the compressor option (if you know what this is supposed to do, cf some youtube videos..), we can wonder why it is not present on the not-usb versions...
-Careful there is no high impedance input for passive instruments you will need a Di or buffer (personnal choice mackie mdp-1P or red panda buffer), we can really wonder why, usually berhinger really thinks to all possibilities for the user (see compressors for example)
-Of course like any usb interface (or anything connecting 2 or more devices connected to earth themselves for the most simple case), be careful to ground loop issues...! Really common and almost inevitable I would say, but people are prompt to blame the device instead of their installation (mostly the computer in that case) So if necessary don't hesitate to invest in a usb isolator, this is nice because this device is old regarding usb and data transfer (check that resolution is not HD though), doesn't require power, so the cheapest ones on amazon not satisfying ultra high speed whatever will actually work perfectly.
-even if this is not possible directly, you can be able to hear both what you are playing and what comes from the usb. You just need a short double left/right rca cable to loop 2-track ou into 2-track in. Enables the "to phones/ctrl room" switch, but be very careful not to enable the "to main" switch or else you will be creating a infinite loop. Then you need to monitor through the ctrl out or phones and that is working.
No really, it is so simple plug and play I use it with REW for example to measure some frequency responses, rta or else, Still ongoing but lately I was using voicemeeter and audacity to record a left channel from a rocksmith cable after my multi-effect and a right channel from the Q802USB being the dry signal of my guitar out of a DI. Then I used if as source from my computer to input into my multi-effect to do reamping and perfect my patch without playing... Like a charm.
