While gradually building up a set of Seydel Session Steel harmonicas, I realised I needed the key of F# to play John Mayall's "Room to Move". I decided to get this Standard version with the brass reeds, since it is a very high key (which has shorter, stiffer reeds). I figured the softer brass would be more flexible. And since I don't use F# very often, I did not want to invest in the more expensive Session Steel.
I was really blown away by how easy it is to play, and how great it sounds. Bends are easy and accurate. The tone is really sweet... not shrill like many other F# harps I have tried in the past. Just like the Session Steel, it is a high quality, professional-grade instrument. It is airtight, responsive, accurate, and smooth on the lips. When playing with a band, it cuts really nicely through the mix.
The volume level and overall tone signature is indiscernible from my Session Steel in the key of F - so I've concluded that Seydel's steel and brass reeds sound the same, to the listener.
It's a tremendously good value at this price.
Highly recommended!
