Very good option for experimenting

Bought the neck to put it on a Squier Stratocaster body and try a baritone rather than buying a full guitar that would set me back at least twice as much.

Materials and the finish are very good, as expected - nice maple, true bone nut, well finished frets. The slots for machine heads that I put on the headstock were perfectly placed so it was a matter of minutes to install.

So, why 4 stars in total? This neck defeated the main selling point of Fender guitars - they're made in such a way that you can easily change parts making them very suitable for different Frankenstein mods. Mine is Tom Delonge inspired - one pickup, fixed bridge no-thrills Strat, but it wasn't really easy to install the neck. See, the neck comes pre-drilled so it can fit into a body of a Strat or probably a Jazzmaster (6 holes per side to try and match the neck pocket and the neckplate), but the holes were not alligned to my Strat's body. So, I had to plug all the pre-drilled holes, wait for the glue to dry a day or two and then redrill the neck. It was nervewrecking to allign everything, but eventually the neck fitted the body perfectly - good angles and string allignment maintaining a very nice action and intonation.

If you know what you're doing, go for it, but if you dont - hire a luthier or somebody that's more experienced because drilling the neck multiple times until you make it can be an expensive mistake in the end.

On a personal note, I wasn't happy that the website only had the maple fretboard one, I'd much prefer the other, sporting darker wood as I hate when the lacquer wears off and dark spots start appearing on the maple... plus I can't oil the wood. But, this is only my personal gripe, doesn't lower the rating as the neck fits and plays really well.
