Unfortunately my experiece with Thomann was bad.
I’was ever doubting to buy expensive guitar on a web site, I’was ever thinking that a guitar you have to try before buying, touch and see from real so you can be sure you buy what you really want.
I bought this brand new guitar from thomann and when I can opened the box I noticed that the seals where strange, they were intact but they lift very easily, without strapping so much paper from the box! The box didn’t had signs of breaking or damage due to the shipping. Was intact.
The guitar appeared to be new but with my great disappointed behind the headstock , a the beginning of the handle, there was like a crack, like a “smile” a kind of “u”, it was visible in contrast with the mahogany color and it was “polished” like the rest, and had no step to the touch. It seam to me it was repaired from someone!
Thomann said it could be a problem with the shipping (but no damage was on the external box) or with the Gibson Quality Control (obviusly impossibile that Gibson can sell breaking instrument after issuing a certificate hand-signed by the person carrying out the inspection..)
So I returned the guitar and Thomann said that they would first check and possibly charge me for the repairs!!! Incredible!! Then after few days, send me a new Standard. Despite the box was damaged by a clear impact the guitar is fine… (I wonder why Thomann doesnt write on the box FRAGILE like Gibson do on theyr ones??) and I noticed a I noticed that the in the bag was also included a Gibson cloth and a multi-tool for small repairs on the guitar… and these tools were absent in the first guitar!!
So it cleray appears like Thomann send me a first damage guitar and they sold it as if it were brand new!!
This thing is shameful and smells like a scam, imagine if I had noticed it after the right of withdrawal! or I had bought a relic guitar!?? These are bad business practices! So when you give 5 stars because the guitar arrives intact, without dents in the box, are the stars for DHL/UPS?? or maybe they are for GIBSON farm?? but I'm certainly not for Thomann who doesn't even check the products they sell (in fact they say that they don't open Gibson boxes for warranty reasons!!) when instead my case shows that they tampered with the seals and resold a broken guitar!! Buy expensive items in the shops in your city! Give value to our money.
The guitar is a good guitar cant say nothing about it, just little small binding smudges and mush on the nut. Ordinary thing. The sounds is there, a good Standard with a crystal clear and well defined sound. 5stars to Gibson product; 1 to DHL; 0 for Thomann.
