This Is How I Get Yamaha BT-01 Into My MIDI Routing

Simple metal case; in my research I found other MIDI MERGE boxes have the OUT ports and IN ports on either side of the box or the ports will be too far away from each other to connect a Yamaha BT-01 midi bluetooth adapter. Getting bluetooth into my guitar rig's MIDI routing is why I bought this particular MIDI Merge-8 made by Kenton. I gave it 4 stars because it could stand to have a female screw mounts as the little Kenton Thru-5 does.

A studio with hardware synths must have a hardware midi merger.

All I can say is that coloured midi cables are the solution if you're dealing with many hardware synths in your studio. I use white midi cables to connect my synths to the midi output of my Synthstrom Deluge sequencer (a very versatile sampler/sequencer in one dedicated device) via a Kenton THRU-12. I use the other available colours of the sssnake midi cables for sending the midi outputs of my hardware synths via a Kenton MERGE-8/4 combo to the midi in of the hardware Deluge sequencer. Each synth has its own midi cable colour. Same colours for synths when one is to the left andcthe other is to the right of the Kenton MERGE-8/4 combo.

One drawback is that the merger mixes midi clocks. I have two Korg Prologues that keep sending midi clock messages. I solved that problem by using an Arduino Uno with a Midi Shield running a Midi Clock messages suppressor coded with the help of ChatGPT. Very simple code.

Merges midi with no noticeable lag or missing message. Solid, will survive touring.

Alles supi - bis auf scharfe Kanten

Wie die Thru 5 arbeitet auch die Merge 8 Box still, solide und tut was sie soll mit Bravour - niemals hatte ich damit bisher Probleme. Dennoch stören die scharfen Kanten an beiden Geräten enorm. An der Kante des Merge 8 habe ich mich bei der Montage geschnitten, daher ist es jetzt mit Isolierband abgeklebt.
