I already had the Larry Carlton S7 Vintage, but my son fell in love with it, so I ended up giving it to him.
Soon it became obvious that I couldn't handle not owning a Larry Carlton, so I ordered the S5 for myself. Seemed like a good deal: basically the same guitar, just doesn't have the locking tuners nor the roasted neck. If I'm not mistaken, it has the same woods, same pickups, same electronics and the same tremolo system (a fantastic tremolo, I must add).
After a quick and easy setup, I think I love the S5 even more than I did the S7. The vintage tint on the neck is somehow more pleasing to my eye than the S7's roasted brown was. For some unexplainable reason I also feel more emotionally connected to the S5, and because of that I will probably play it even more.
Couldn't be more happy with the price-quality-ratio. Sounds and feels fantastic.
