I bought this kit to practice on quietly at home. I have had several electronic drum kits in the past, but wanted a kit that resembled my acoustic kit, and which also wasn't going to brake the bank. This was the cheapest option available. I am really pleased with the way it looks. It also feels as if you are sitting behind a real kit, which is a massive plus point for me. The response is very good on all drums and cymbals, although the hi-hat is a little tricky to set up correctly (there are good videos on YouTube showing how to do this though) It's worth spending some time studying the manual on how to set it up to respond to your personal playing style, as this will make a huge difference to how you perceive the kit. It's got a good selection of kits and sounds on offer, but if you are like me and are just looking for something to practice on which resembles your normal acoustic kit, then you too will probably chose one kit, tweak it to uour own personal taste, and never use anything else! Mesh heads are always going to be a completely different feel to plastic drum heads no matter what the manufacturers try to tell you, but this is just a compromise you have to lean to adapt to if you truely want to practice quietly whilst enjoying a full drum sound in your headphones. I play it like I play my acoustic kit, so it takes one hell of a beating! One year on and nothing has broken yet. Definitely good value if you really don't want to spend three times the price on a Roland!
Notice my review is coming completely from the perspective of an acoustic drummer who needed a realistic looking quiet kit purely for practicing on. Hence why I don't go deeply in to it's electronic features. I can set everything up in exactly the same position and reach as my acoustic kit I can beat it like my acoustic kit, and it sounds similar in my headphones to my acoustic kit. That was all I was looking for, and it fills the job admirably!
