Mollenhauer 2446 Canta Tenor Recorder

I've been playing the concert flute for 32 years, but due to muscular skeletal issues that prevent me from holding my flute any longer I have moved to the recorder. A traditional flute maker recommended that I try the recorder. I feel completely silly not having thought of it before because I can play my tenor for hours without muscular recourse. It took several weeks to get used to holding the weight on my thumbs but that is no longer a problem. I don't use a strap so I can quickly switch between tenor and soprano within a piece. I will say that I was completely surprised by the sound quality of this instrument. It is rich and complex and I find my self doing a lot of long note rehearsal because the notes have such a beautiful tone. I know that this flute is considered 'entry level' but it is a superb piece of craftsmanship. Having learnt the recorder at school and hating it due to the actual instrument quality, I would recommend that all learners start out on wood. It really can determine whether or not you stick with the recorder or not. I am so disappointed that I didn't re-discover this wonderful instrument years ago.

Achetée récemment et donc toujours en rodage, cette flûte accessible n'en est pas moins très satisfaisante : stable dans les graves comme dans les aigus, elle est au diapason sur ses deux octaves (vérifié avec PitchLab). La double clé, inversée par rapport à Yamaha, est toute aussi pratique. Certes la facture est simple mais il s'agit aussi d'une entrée de gamme. Elle complète agréablement ma Denner soprano et ma Canta alto de chez Mollenhauer également. Un plaisir à jouer.

I needed a new instrument because my old Rossetti (bought in 1963 for about £15) had reached the end of its useful life, especially since severe cracks appeared in the head joint after a mishap. I was looking for good sound quality, especially at the bottom end, and I believe that I have found it in this instrument, which (after 3 weeks) is now almost broken in.
Sound quality is excellent throughout the range, although it took some time to master the keys for C and C#. The balance is very good, especially with the thumb rest. The instrument is very well made.
