Trick Drums P1V5 Beater Weight Set

I bought this to have options. And because it was available. This is not an item that is sold widely, to say the least.

I use them to balance different beaters to make them feel similar as much as possible.
Takes some time.
And that’s without the mutltiple trim options of the Trick Dominator itself.
I have several beaters but I only trimmed them on the lightest of the bunch. I don’t need them on heavy beaters.
It’s a very personal thing.
Much is also possible with the excellent adjusting options of my pedal.
Which is a must when you’re playing many 16th single basedrum patterns.
It sounds complicated, but it’s not.
Just takes time.
But the precision machinery of those laser cut expensive direct drive pedals make sure a set up stays the same forever. Gig after gig.

For me it’s all about positioning behind the set (height of the throne and snare are my basic priorities to build the set around me) and adjustment of my bass pedal feel.
The rest around it can vary, but those first I mentioned are my core drum measures.

My bass drum pedal is also exactly trimmed to the beater.
I notice it instantly when it’s off.
Too heavy and I can’t play the fast 16th’s I want, too light and the rebound of the beater is not good enough to develop speed either.
Maybe it’s me but I think repetitive 16th’s in every bar are pretty demanding.
But playing those short bursts on a single pedal in funky vibes sounds way more organic and natural than with a double kick set up, i.m.o.
