LP 14"x 8,5" Banda Snare Drum

I got this snare because I really wanted a deep one and it sounded pretty nice on the videos I watched. The fact it is made of stainless steel was also appealing.

Regarding the sound, I am very pleased. It has a lot of attack, works really well in a high/tight tuning and is a joy to our ears. The heads it comes with are of good quality and surely add to the rich sound.
However, the craftsmanship is a little disappointing. There are visible defects inside the snare, on the rolling of the edges at the bottom, where the snares engage. It is as if the snare was hammered or hit with some blunt tool that deformed the material.
I spoke to Thomann and they kindly replaced the unit I got. Sadly, the one I received the second time also has similar issues so this might not be uncommon with the snare and, very likely, has to do with Latin Percussion/DW and their manufacturing.

It is a cool snare and I am keeping it but I probably would not buy it again.

Ich war schon eine Weile auf der Suche nach einer tiefen Metallsnare für ein bisschen mehr Bauch bei trotzdem guter Sensitivität und diese Snare erfüllt beide Wünsche mit Leichtigkeit.
Die 12 Stimmschrauben pro Seite machen Fine-tuning super einfach und verhindern auch in hohen Stimmungen, dass die Trommel tot klingt, man kann dadurch aber auch schön Tief gehen, ohne das der Klang anfängt zu eiern. Verarbeitungsmäßig ist die Snare top für den Preis, natürlich gibt es hier und da Luft nach oben, aber diese Aspekte haben keine Auswirkung auf den Sound also sind sie belanglos. Nur zwei Sachen fand ich schade. So war das mitgelieferte Schlagfell sehr schlecht gestimmt und stark verzogen auf einer Achse, weshalb ich es sofort auswechseln musste, Der Hoop hat keinen Schaden genommen, allerdings hätte ich mir gerne nicht gleich ein neues Fell dazuholen müssen. Außerdem hatte ich den Eindruck, dass der 42er Snareteppich zu breit für das Snare-Bett war und präzise Ghostnotes unmöglich machte, ich musste ihn also durch einer 20er auswechseln, was ich allerdings sowieso vorhatte, also war diese Änderung weniger schlimm.
Im Großen und Ganzen ist diese Snare jeden Cent wert, sie ist sehr vielseitig und liefert ab, egal, was man damit vorhat.

Ich habe lange damit gerungen, ob ich diese Snare kaufen soll. Sie ist ja nicht gerade ein Leichtgewicht. Ich habe es aber dennoch gewagt und habe es noch keine Minute bereut.
Wir spielen in unserer Band unterschiedliche Musik Stile. Von Pop, Rock, R'nB bis Latin Songs ist alles dabei. Aus diesem Grund suchte ich auch eine Snare, die mir ein grosses Einsatzspektrum ermöglichen würde. Mit entsprechend wechselnder Dämpfung gelingt es mir nun den Klang der Banda Snare immer wieder auf den jeweiligen Musikstil anzupassen.
Aber vor allem bei den Latin Songs kann sie zum Biest werden, wenn das Timbales in ihr durchdringt. Laut, brachial, temperamentvoll.
Eine tolle Snare zu einem fairen Preis. Die geb' ich nicht mehr her.
