Universal Audio UAFX Dream '65

Bienvenue dans la nouvelle génération des amplis guitare au format pédale ! Universal Audio utilise la technologie de modélisation de composant couplée à leurs réponses technologie de simulation baffle - haut parleurs - micros depuis des années pour l’Universal Audio OX (qui permet d’assurer une prise guitare 100% silencieuse en sortie d’un ampli lampe).
Si vous aimez le son Fender, qu’il soit clean et limpide, saturé façon Rivera (avec le boost Lead), ou avec un drive dynamique et lumineux façon SRV (avec le boost D-Tex), vous serez servi.
La latence est très très faible, les sensations de jeu sont excellentes sur de bonnes enceintes de monitoring, ou avec des In Ears. On a quelque chose sous les doigts !
Extrêmement simple à régler, c’est une machine plug and play contrairement à beaucoup d’autres pédales dans le style ou il fallait passer des heures à les régler, télécharger des IR etc.
C’est pensé par des guitaristes pour des guitaristes et ça change tout !!
Pour ne rien gâcher, la Spring Reverb et le Tremolo embarqués sonnent superbement.
La dernière mise à jour permet de stocker un nombre incalculable de presets utilisateur via l’application qui se connecte en Bluetooth, et on a accès par la même occasion à une librairie de presets d’artistes tel que Tim Pierce, Cory Wong, ou encore David Rayan Harris qui joue avec John Mayer.
Alors oui, il n’y a pas de sortie casque, pas de sortie ligne XLR (il faut la brancher dans une Di sur scène et une carte son en studio), mais l’essentiel est là et dans un petit format très pedalboard friendly.
La messe est dite, et la concurrence va devoir se réveiller et sans tarder !

J ai joué sur des fenders black face des années 60 qui avaient un son de rêve avec une sensation de jeu parfaite à mon goût. Cette pédale s'en rapproche suffisamment pour ne pas se compliquer la vie à trouver un ampli vintage en bon état, l'entretenir et le déplacer si besoin. Ça sonne Fender lampe ce qui est très rare en modélisation. Je la trouve trop bright il faut bien la régler ce que je trouve dommage mais peut être un update pourrait rectifier ce point. Le son est un peu compressé et les cordes de sol et de si ont tendance à claquer ce qui est aussi dommage et ceux sur plusieurs guitares : strat, es 335, d'angelico Atlantic, Yamaha SG 200, ibanez jem 77,B&G crossroads.

I listen mostly to 70's and some 80's from Curtis Mayfield to SRV. I play at home at low volume, and this pedal gives me exactly what I was missing, a warm tube-like Fender tone for cleans and overdrive.

Amongst others, I own a Fender Cyber Deluxe (one of the first modelling amps) and 2 multi effects; Mooer GE200 & Nux MG300. Out of the 3, the Mooer gave me the closest tube-like Fender tone but only from their downloadable IR's, not from the onboard ones, but anyway there was still something missing.

Now between the GE200 with a good Fender style IR and the Dream 65, I can’t say that there is a huge difference, it might be possible in a heavily charged mix it might be difficult to differentiate the two, BUT man, when you play, I mean when you play!!! it's another world, that little extra just does it, just like good food without salt, once you add a little salt it just makes it so much better and tasty!!! and this pedal has the salt!!! in fact it has it all, I really don't need anything else apart from a good speaker to play through

I love it so much I can’t put my guitar down, it makes me get more into my playing, finding new licks, improve my strumming, it sounds so much fuller than any other pedal I've tried, it even works well with a bass too.

So if you’re like me, that is like the classic Fender tube tones, play at low volume, look no further and treat yourself, you wont be disappointed.

Plutôt content de mon achat, plus besoin de transporter un ampli pour aller faire des concerts, c'est quand même bien pratique!
Les sons clean et crunch sont tops, j'adore la reverb et les différentes options de baffles. Petit bémol sur la distortion qui sonne vite "fuzzy" avec trop peu de définition à mon goût, mais celà vient peut être aussi de ma guitare (une squier jazzmaster classic vibe) donc à tester peut être avec un modèle plus haut de gamme.
Gros bémol sur la fonction bluetooth pour choisir ses sons via téléphone.. je ne pensais pas vraiment l'utiliser car je me vois mal sortir mon téléphone sur scène, mais en plus de ça mon téléphone n'a jamais reconnu ma pédale 😂😂 bref, j'aurais largement préféré un système à l'ancienne de cliquer sur un potard, ou les deux en même temps pour défiler parmi des sons pré-enregistrer, mais bon, je suis peut être vieux jeu 🤷

Pros :
- so many beautiful responsive and 'alive' sounds accessible with so few knobs.
- can cover : clean ballad, soft jazz, skank, classic rock, blues, and close to the Santana Europa sound, and in between, with only a few knobs.

Cons :
- missing other reverb types (hall,room) / does not go beyond the original amp
- only one preset accessible : missing preset change via foot switch
- iOS app is just ... 'unbelievable' :
- the whole page is reloaded each time you select a preset,
- the connection is lost when the phone goes idle (screen saving) you have to exit/relaunch the app,
- even after the pedal is paired via bluetooth, in the app it takes up to 12 seconds between the moment you tap on your 'dream 65' tile to get access to presets and settings.
- no Midi for preset switch,
- no aux in,
- no phones out
- no DI out

Compared to the Nux Amp Academy ?
+100 € for the dream, with uafx promotion.
The Amp Academy has loud pops when you switch scenes and have the 'crunch' boost in the effect chain in from of the amp on scene B for instance. This is a no go for me. Playing loud live the pop becomes a big 'clac' that no one wants to hear.
The Amp Academy has all features missing on the Dream 65.

The Dream 65 is a no brainer, and that wins for me.
The sounds you get from both are huge pleasure :)

I also use Overloud Thu Mobile, sound wise it's huge, but bringing a phone + sound card + usb power + ampero control switch for live / rehearsal I had to deal with technical / electrical issues instead of playing. In some case the simpler the better :)
